Who is Stillo 31 ‘Star’ for?

Three cabins with doors give the crew privacy, while the saloon and cockpit provide shared space. There are eight berths in total, including berths outside the enclosed cabins. The layout suits families with children or couples travelling together who also want some private space.

Inside: cabins, saloon and galley

Interior headroom is 1.95 m. The galley has a gas cooker, sink and large fridge with a freezer. A coffee machine and ice maker are also provided. Heating is useful on cooler evenings, while the 12 V and 230 V systems support onboard equipment according to the available power supply and handover instructions.

Cockpit and bathroom

The teak-finished cockpit has a table, lighting, an additional fridge and a sink, providing space for meals and relaxing when moored. Sunbathing cushions are also provided on board. The bathroom has a marine toilet with a holding tank and a hot-water shower.

Engine and harbour manoeuvres

An inboard diesel engine powers the boat, while bow and stern thrusters help adjust its position at low speed. They assist with mooring but do not replace a controlled approach, an assessment of the wind or careful line handling. Use the thrusters in short bursts as demonstrated at handover. A chartplotter and electric anchor windlass are also provided.

Licence-free charter of Stillo 31

Stillo 31 ‘Star’ is offered for licence-free charter. Before departure, you need to complete the required safety training and learn how to operate this particular boat. A licence exemption does not remove the skipper’s responsibility for the crew or the need to understand navigation rules.

The statutory exemption requires all three conditions to be met: hull length up to 13 m, engine power up to 75 kW and a maximum speed limited by design to 15 km/h. The rules are set out in Article 37a of the Polish Inland Navigation Act.

Planning your trip and collecting the boat

Your trip starts and ends at Stanica Wodna Stranda near Giżycko unless another location has been agreed in advance. Collection is between 16:00 and 20:00 on arrival day, with return between 08:00 and 10:00 on the final day. A signed charter agreement and an identity card are required. Alternative times can be agreed with the team.

From Giżycko, you can plan a route north towards Lake Mamry or south towards Mikołajki. Having no mast makes bridge passages simpler, but you must still check clearance, navigation marks and conditions. A draught of 0.50 m does not make every bay safe to enter.

How many people can travel on board?

Up to eight people. The boat has eight berths and three enclosed cabins; not every berth is in a separate cabin.

Can a beginner manage mooring?

Two thrusters help with manoeuvring. Practise the controls with the handover team before departure and assign tasks to the crew. Ask for help in difficult conditions.

Is the boat suitable for cooler days?

Heating and a hot-water shower make trips outside peak season more comfortable. Whether to leave harbour still depends on the weather and the crew’s abilities.

Do I need a boating licence for Stillo 31 ‘Star’?

The boat is offered without a boating-licence requirement. Safety training and a boat-specific handover briefing are required before departure, in accordance with the charter terms.
